The recreation program here at the West Central Community Center conducts and facilitates many programs, classes, special events, and services.  Some of these programs are seasonal and some are year round.  Our recreation department operates with an emphasis on youth, particularly youth living in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Spokane Badminton Club

Spokane Badminton Club offers instruction and equipment for ages 13 and older.  Donations are requested to offset equipment maintenance and/or replacement.  Contact Jesse Lill (509) 328-3818

Baseball Skills Clinics                                                                    

Practice the fundamentals of baseball. Learn proper hitting, fielding, throwing, base running and catching. For ages 8 and up. Donations accepted.  Contact Rick Harris (509) 323-7501

Creative Connections

An exercise and music class for the developmentally disabled.  Cost is $33 for the 8 week session.  Call for more information contact Alice Busch (509) 625-6245

Developmentally Disabled Aerobics                                           

Specialized low impact aerobics for the developmentally disabled population.  Contact Alice Busch (509) 625-6245    

Friday Night Jam                                                                               

Dancing, food and social activities for developmentally disabled adults.  Second Friday of the Month.  Contact Alice Busch (509) 625-6245

Girl Scouts                                                                                          

Activities, group projects, field trips for neighborhood girls age 5-18.  Offered every Thursday from 4:00-5:15pm.  Contact Rick Harris (509) 323-7501

Jazz Dance Classes                                                                 

Class offering dance instruction in Jazz Dance rhythmic moves.  The participants will perform at the Met in the spring. Cost is 130.00 for the entire five-month program.  Class begins late September.  Classes will be on Thursdays 4:30pm.  Cindy Hamilton (509) 448-5423

Karate Classes                                                                                   

Karate classes are offered for all ages 5 years old and up.  Learn self discipline, respect and also a great form of exercise.  Fee is $10 a month and $25 uniform fee.  Classes are on Fridays at 4:00-5:00 pm.  Contact Rick Harris (509) 323-7501

Zumba Classes  

Latin inspired dance fitness program offered on Tuesday & Thursday evenings. 6:45 to 7:45 pm. Cost is $5 per class. Contact Raven @ 328-3516 for more information.

Summer Night Life Teen Program                                               

Gym is available for youth ages 11-18 to play basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, crafts, movies, tournaments and educational activities during the summer months.  Must sign registration form to enter gym.  Program is free.  Contact Rick Harris (509) 323-7501 

Special Events                                               

The Recreation Department sponsors a variety of special events throughout the year.  Annual events such as our Neighbor Day Festival, Halloween Party and Winterfest.  Contact Rick Harris (509) 323-7501. Donations and volunteers always needed and appreciated. 

Teen Program                                                                                     

Activities offered are sports, games, arts and crafts, field trips, movies, and educational activities for youth.  Every Tuesday from 7-10 pm and occasional Friday nights during the school year.  Contact Rick Harris (509) 323-7501

Wrestling Club                                                                                  

Learn wrestling techniques and fundamentals.  Coach stresses sportsmanship, respect and to have fun.  Club will participate in 4 tournaments.  Begins in mid January and ends April 1st.  Cost is usually $42 per season.  Contact Rick Harris (509) 323-7501
